I can’t figure out why this works. What type of witchcraft is involved?
Why does 119-age = year born?

I think I worked thru it.
We have completed 19 years of this century. Hence 119-age.

Uh no, you would need to add 1900 to whatever answer you got to get the year of your birth. This is the kind of moronic thing you would find on Facebook. I thought we were a little bit better here, but clearly I was mistaken.

works for me this week. Won't work next week and forever after after.

think about it: 119....19.

does this only work in 2019 (or up until your 2019 age, in 2020)?

so now it becomes 120...meh.

I'm guessing this is somehow time based, ex: only valid for a certain age or year range? Works for me, but when I'll have my birthday it won't work anymore.

It works for the age on your birthday in 2019, hence the 119. Easy for me because it starts on my birth year, and so turning 40 in 2019, means I eliminate that other variable that is a simple red herring.

Doesn’t work for anyone 19 or younger. Won’t work for someone who has had their birthday this year today or earlier.

Doesnt work. Can I use two twenty dollar bills instead of ones? I only have 3 ones in my wallet.

19 year old's can't drink, so they shouldn't be spending $40 on 79 beers, anyway.

Yeah, past your birthday in 2020, it won't work. That's what I was saying.

Still works for me because I haven't hit my 2020 birthday yet. But then it won't work for me next week.

given that's got BEERS in the math and it's written on a bar napkin, you can safely assume anyone you do this to will be 21+ or else you gon' be reenacting that Family Guy scene where Quagmire get arrested.
