What is this Laser mouse BS all about?

I don't game very often. I keep hearing about this $75.00 mx 1000 laser mouse from logitech. They say it is more accurate than an optical mouse.

WTF gives?

I don't know about the rest of you but my optical mouse goes where I want it to go. How exactly is this new laser mouse more "accurate".

Is it just for wireless gamers? I'm not sure why this mouse is getting so hyped up. There are plenty of wireless mice that are "accurate" at the fraction of the cost.

Just read Logitech's page or a review. You'll see how it's more accurate. It's kinda dumb to post about something that can be easily found through Google or Logitech's product page and then whining about how you don't think it can possibly help.

You can bet Logitech will be bringing out a corded version of this mouse down the road, the laser technology Logitech use is superior to their old optical models(MX510 etc) however the difference in real use will depend on many factors like the surface you use it on and what you use the mouse for,if you want the best then it should be at the top of your list.

As to being hyped,I think it`s because its the very first laser mouse available from any company that you can actually buy.I`m sure the laser technology will improve over the coming years, just like it already has with optical technology.

Perhaps Logitech will split into Leftitech and Rightitech?

I dont know. Personally Im right handed but I find it stupid that people are pretty much being discriminated against by things like this.

0roo0roo thanks for the link,I found this interesting.

The MX 1000 uses the Fast RF technology for wireless transmission. The frequency is still 27 MHz, but the frequency band has been doubled. The advantage lies in being able to transmit twice as much data and thus to refresh the coordinates twice as fast.

The Lithium battery used in the MX 1000 is a major advantage to battery life over the NIMH batteries in the MX 700 model.

The mouse is pure crap, especially if you play games. I review it here.

I don`t have the MX 1000 yet but reviews and owners that I know that have this mouse say it rocks!

We compared the laser mouse with the MX 510, the most precise mouse available as of today. We tried both models on the latest FPS games - UT 2004, Doom 3 and FarCry. First off, I gave the mouse to several players to try with these games and the reaction was unanimous: the MX 1000 is better. It's not just a matter of precision in movement, but overall precision. This mouse reacts to your every movement

mice with frickin' laser beams attached to their frickin' heads!??

Yeah just like those monsters trying to kill you in them games 😉 ,now you can get your own back on them 😀 .

As I indicate in the review, it's a roll of the dice. Quite a few people are having issues after getting different mice and using it on different machines. I think Logitech sends out "good" ones to the reviewers, but their message board people acknowledge there's a problem.

Most sites are giving Dan Rather network reviews... you gotta go to the blogs for the truth 🙂
