I noticed that alot of the G4 has this little hook at the bottom of the card... as seen in the following link/pic

card w/ hook

now I wonder does it need a special AGP 4X slot to get it to fit or what ? .. I don't remember my Abit KR7A-133 has a bay for this hook...

please let me know

Thx

The linky you posted doesn't work, but I think I know what you are talking about. It is a littel hook in the PCB right after the cutouts that fit into the AGP slot. They are used with the AGP locking mechanisims. You know, that little lever after your AGP slot. It is used to hold the card in while in transport.

The link does work; just drag and drop it into the Address Bar - it's a Geocities link.

Yes, it can be used with our without the locking thing. I've had some AGP cards that wouldn't plug in right because the motherboard manufacturers were dumb and put components right behind the AGP slot; I sliced the thing off with a Dremel - no problems. And frankly, the AGP locking things are always just trouble; I've never had an AGP card pop out on its own.
