Prof gave us a programming assignment involving an array and told us to make the first nine elements of the array the digits of our SSN. Yeah, I really want my SSN floating around on some unencrypted homework submission site and then sitting on my TA's hard drive. I'm just going to make one up, but I can't imagine why he'd even request this in the first place.

I'm sure its sitting unencrypted on the school's computer system that is connected to the Internet.

I'm putting at the top of the assignment as a comment:

"Let's pretend for the purpose of this assignment that my SSN is [any number], because I do not want to give the TA my actual SSN."

Identity theft wasn't as big a deal until recently. I doubt any schools do this now.
