what is this called?

what i currently have:

15 computers downloading the same several hundred messages per day off an external server.

what i want:

1 computer to download the external mail. The other 14 should be able to use an email client (ie outlook express) to download the mail from the 1 computer that already has the mail from the external mail server.

what is this called? what software does this??

Sounds like you want to set up a local email server. There's a thread about it on the Gentoo forums about it.

although I wouldn't know anything about doing it with a windows machine.

If you want to get fancy you should also use IMAP, that way the mail stays on the server and can be accessed from multiple email clients.
