Was at a Halloween party last night and the host had this game that was an absolute blast to play, especially after a few drinks.

Basically, it made of wood and about 7' long with sides, similar to a bowling alley. You had 30 wooden discs that you slid down the main board. At the end of the board were four openings, slightly bigger than the discs, numbered 1-4. In the first round, the goal was to get as many discs in the holes as possible but specifically, as close to equal amounts in each hole as possible. In the 2nd round, 2 smaller black discs were placed near the launch area. You had to knock both of those through the holes before you could start counting points. In the final round, a little red "man" is placed on top of a red disc near launch area. The goal is to knock the disc out from under him but not have him fall over. You then have to get the red disc through a hole before your other discs account for points.

I heard someone refer to it as "Log Jam" but I know it has a specific name that started with a "S" I believe. And the name wasn't American. Maybe Asian or German perhaps.

I've Googled like crazy for it but not having much luck. If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it because I'd like to build my own board for it. Highly addictive game.

Both underrated and highly entertaining games but not what I'm looking for.

Bump for Monday morning work crowd

Black, white and red disks sounds like Carrom, but the game normally is played in another manner.

That's not it. The 30 discs you slide have no color...just round cuts of sanded plywood used in a shuffleboard manner. But instead of using them to knock other discs onto a certain spot, you use them to knock your discs through the open slots numbered 1-4. The only colored discs are just two smaller, black discs used for round 2 and one small red disc used for round 3.

Ughh...driving me crazy. Hoping to get in touch with host of party but figured someone here may know what it is. Definitely starts with a "S" because I remember seeing the name written on one of the disc but forgot it.

A variation of Sjoelbak maybe?

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! That's the one!

However, I think the variation at the party makes it a lot more fun. The additional 2 rounds and incorporation of 2 black discs/one red disc with "man" on top really make it more challenging and entertaining. Now I just have to construct this thing.

Yet another reason why I love ATOT.

You're welcome... LOL

Gave me something to do this morning. :)

Google "Sjoelbak" and you might be able to find a place they sells game sets.

I found some sites that looked like they might... but didn't really check into that... I was more looking at rules etc.

Or... if you want to make one: http://www.van-vliet.org/dempseywoodworking/sjoelbak.shtml

I think I still have one in storage, used it a lot in the old days.

Bt.w. the thing lasts a lot longer (and slides a lot faster) if you use talcum powder.

Yeah, shortly after you told me the name, I found that same link. That is a very well crafted and nice one. The one at the party had all the proper measurments but wasn't nearly as finely crafted as the one on that link. I think I'll do one similar to the one at the party to cut costs but still end up with a nice board. Only thing I'll do differently is stain it so it looks nicer. The one at the party was just bare, sanded plywood.

You can buy them online already made but I enjoy working with wood and this will be a good project for me to help pass a little time befor the holidays.
