I was over a friends house watching MTV2 and this band came on that conisted of a male guitarist/vocalist, a female vocalist and a female cellist. The video was black and white of them in the recording studio recording the song. Being a cellist it is always interesting to see cellos used in "popular" music and I would like to check the band out more, if only I could find out who they are.

It was sorta soft/fok rockish except the the only percusion is when the guy would slap his guitar, if that helps any.

No:( I was not in the best state of mind for short term memory recall. I knew I should have written the name of the band down, but I thought I would be able to remember it...

I'm pretty sure it was on one of their "new music" program blocks.

$100 bucks says it was Damien Rice. He's a singer/songwriter-type from Ireland who is finally breaking through over here.

I think his first single is the song "Volcano", which indeed features cello and collaborator Lisa Hannigan on vocals.

I cannot highly enough recommend his album "O", which was just released here in the US last month. If you like Volcano, chances are good you'll love the whole thing.

I think it's surprising (and fantastic) that they would play Damien on MTV2. More people need to hear his music!

Edit: You can download Volcano here.
