Looks like Ubuntu(<12.04) with a window theme I'm not familiar with. Could be any GNU/Linux though. They all can be made to look like each other. The main differences between distros are under the hood.

You'd be better off using something like Xubuntu 14.04, then adding packages to make it look like the screenshots. Ubuntu 12.04 won't look anything like that out of the box. Besides, it'll be out of support soon, and anything older is out of support.
