what is thermal printing?

i see this when buying cd-rs? and with inkjet, are there printers where you can put the cd in or something? or do they just come with labels that you print and then stick on?

Some CD-R media has thermal printing surfaces, and yes there are both inkjet/laser printers than can print directly on to the CD, it's mechanical setup where you stack blank CDs and it loads them one by one into the printer and prints on them and puts it aside. They're not overly common, I think Epson or such has one that's pretty mainstream, but I'm not sure.

Thermal Printing refers to those dye sublimation printers. They use heat to activate the ink.

thanks all. so are the olden days of printing on a label and then pasting it on to the CD gone?
