What is there to do in Phoenix, AZ

What is there to do in Phoenix, AZ? I went there last year on business and stayed in the hotel, this year I want to explore. Anything within a reasonable cab fare of downtown?

Good question. I just moved here (Tempe actually) and I'm interested in the same thing. 😛

Depends on what you like to do. It's warming up here, so golf is relatively cheap this time of year. There's also the dbacks playing in downtown Phx (though they suck this year). That's about all I can think of in central Phx off the top of my head (besides the usual art musuem stuff by the ballpark).

That is a good question. I will celebrate 10 years in Phoenix in August, and I also would like to know what there is to do here.

No amusement parks or neat attractions (Castles N' Coasters doesn't count)
Too hot to be outside
Downtown is not a "cool" downtown like Chicago or NY
Animals in the zoo are all hiding in their caves to escape the sun

Seriously, when I ask people what they do for fun, they say, "Go to LA or Vegas." So Phoenix's slogan should be: "Visit Phoenix! We have California nearby!"

My wife hates it here and begs me to send resumes back east every day. But when you work for Intel, you're not too eager to give it away. Someone on ATOT once called Phoenix "Satan's A$$hole" which is exactly what it is.

Hope you have fun on your visit!

Translation: It's so effing hot right now, golf courses have to lower their fees just to persuade people to come golfing.

"No, seriously. It was 112 today. You cannot be outside for 9 holes, let alone 18. You will die. "

LMFAO!

Yes, it is warm. Yes it is 112 in the day and damn near triple digits at 10:30 at night. But this is just the anti-midwest/northeast in the winter. In the midwest/northeast in the winter it's -10 to +20 during the day with snow on the ground. Other than snowmobiling WTF can you do there for 3-4 months out of the year?

At least here you can go outside without 40 pounds of winter insulation 😛

Want to grab a beer sometime? I'm down here all by myself for a year and just want to get out on occasion.
