Yeah, that's probably it because I have a Zip drive too. I'm guessing the problem is that the service runs, and when it can't find my zip drive (it's external, and I usually don't plug it in) it decides to restart my computer.
It's used to map the Zip drive to a floppy drive letter, I believe. But I never needed to use it when I had a Zip Drive, and so I disabled it. I suggest you do the same.
