What is the wireless router/PCMCIA card to go with now?

I'd like to go with Linksys because I know their products well and this will be for a friend which more than likely I will be helping with over the phone time to time.

I see the Wireless-N gear has dropped in price....is this really the way to go or is G 'good enough'.

They are in an average sized home (1700-2000 sqft) and want one roaming laptop (Dell D600) and one connected PC. They use Comcast with a Surfboard modem.

What's the router and PCCard/PCMCIA option today at the best bang for buck? They are hoping to spend under $75 combined, and if possible $50.
