What is the VERY MOST reliable CD-RW?

I'm building a computer for a friend's parents. His mom wants to archive family pictures on CD-R. My thought is that that isn't the safest way, because no matter what is said about how long they will last, it doesn't take a lot to make a CD-R go bad, even if it was burned correctly. But my friend seems to want to use that technology anyway, and it'll probably be ok because the pics will also be on the hard drive, and sent to family. But I want to help them as much as I can. Besides taking good care of the CD-Rs before and after burning, and having good quality media, I would like them to have the best writer they can in terms of burning quality. It doesn't have to be the fastest drive, just the most precise. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I still have CD-R's burned from my original burner from years ago. I thinks it's a 1x or 2x cost about 700 dollars at the time. Almost all new drives have the buffer overun protection but I'd stick with Plextor who's has a very good history with quality. I recently picked up a 40x Lite-on from NewEgg for 80 dollars and have burned dozens of music, photo, and Video cd's without one coaster. I'd recommend the Lite-on over the Plextor because of dollar savings but either should work for you.

Yet another vote for Lite-On. As reliable as Plextor, except less expensive.

Same here :)
