I've been thinking but I can't figure out the correct name for this job. Helps, ATOT.

The position should involve looking and mapping crime statistics, documentation, compilation, analysis and research pertaining to criminal activity or crime-prone areas of a city (likely metro areas), probably works in conjunction with the documents or information available from a forensics lab. I think it could be as low as local like a police department but it can also extend to federal like the FBI, CIA, etc. and the intelligence analyzer should have a minimum background of a Bachelor's in Criminology, Sociology, or related.

Newspaper Reporter...they do that all the time for our local paper; no big deal.

I was going to suggest this. A lot of crime statistics and maps I've seen were made by the Associated Press. Not really such a thing in the crime world. They have little need for math/stats nerds.
