What is the status of doing a soft quadro mod on a 7800 card??

I only ask cause I may be getting ready for a conroe system which means updating my AGP dual core AMD system. If my boost in pcu power is going to be offsetted by slower perfomance working in the viewports I may just upgrade the dual core I have now to a newer one I can maybe irk 2.8ghz out of....
