What is the standard way to email a resume?

Is it cover letter in the body and the resume attached, or should I not send attachments because some companies won't open them? If you're not supposed to send attachments, do you just not send the cover letter and paste the resume in the body? Thanks for any help.

I'd say attach the resume and use the email as your cover letter.
