Well, don't everyone beat up on me at once, but in the lamens of computers, its called division by 8. You can easily go from megaBITS to megaBYTES simply by dividing it by 8....so....480mbits/sec for wonderful USB 2.0....what's that....60MB/sec? and we got ATA/133...and this ain't megabites either, its megaBYTES. So 133 vs 60, you do the math. Just remember good friend, present IDE hard drives....even the 7200rpm flavors, cannot exceed umm...what is it....50 or so MB? Only burst speeds from the cache of the hard drive can go at the speeds of 133 or whatever they come out with next. So remember...go IDE....cause why? It's cheaper, LOL! :) At least that's what I believe. As for averages...what are you wanting averages of? 5400RPM hard drive? 7200RPM? DVD ROM? CD burner? It'd be the same for both...with maybe IDE being a TAD faster but pretty much equal I'd assume. Hope this helps!
