what is the shelf life of rubber bands?

i was just cleaning up the back room and found a bag of rubber bands from when i was a paper boy, back in 1979! :Q

they are in a zip lock bag and seem to be in good shape

my wife sometimes makes comments about me being a pack rat, i can't let her find these, keeping rubber bands for 24 years probably is good ammo for her

Rubber has, on average, a 10 year lifespan. Add Ozone, heat, etc. and it is shorter. Remove them, and it is longer.

Vintage rubber bands are about as useless as a tit on a bull. Save your listing fees.

Rubber bands are in a much less hostile environment than a condom. Besides, if all were equal, and I had as much riding on that rubber band as a rubber, I'd replace them every year also.
