This is a desknote with a 733MHz Transmeta cpu on a SiS chipset with SiS onboard graphics of course. 14.1" display with DVD, 56K and 10/100.
I am currently using a Latitude C500 with a 700MHz Celeron and 8MB Rage 128 graphics. It has a Maestro 3i sound card which sounds real decent when I hook it up to a sub-woofer speaker system.
I use this notebook strictly at work, MP3's, web browsing and very light gaming. Could the A900 perform these light chores on a near equal basis? I also have an IBM 600E 400MHz PII which has enough cpu power, but it is lacking in the video and sound departments. I have several desktop machines configured for high level gaming, so that is not a concern. I also never use battery power, so the desknote will do fine.
I have tried Google and there doesn't seem to be much info on the A900 performance. I want to spend the least amount of money and have decent video and good sound quality. I can pick up a used Dell C600 750MHz for under $500 which is identical to my C500 except for the cpu is a Pentium III, not a Celeron. I can pick up the A900 for $100 less, is it worth a try?
