I don't want a computer with a window side panel and I don't want some crazy looking design. I want a computer that will hold back as much noise as possible. What is the quietest one out there????

Perhaps Zalmans TNN-500? It would cost about 800$ i believe though..

Otherwise, get Antecs P180 or the Acousticase 6607B.

The Evercase 42x2 series and the Antec SLK3x00 series are some of the quietest OOB and not hard to make them moreso with a careful choice of components. The new Antec P180 is also supposed to be good, but don't know from personal experience.

cases make no noise by themselves. Once you start adding in useful components, the noise comes into the picture.

The quietest you can get without putting the computer in another room is probably solid state harddrives, zalman reserator for everything else, and seasonic S12

I have narrowed it down to antec sonata II, antec pb180 in black, antec tx 1050B. I have used many antec cases and like the build. I can't say I have ever seen or heard in person any others. In this price line does anyone have any others to put in my search.

Get the P180!!! Mine is DEAD silent - Plus the stock 120mm fans have a 3-way swith to change the speed. I have mine at the lowest speed and you can hear the HDs before you can hear the case fans and it still keeps low temps.

Zalman TNN-500 has an annoing coil noise. Probably you can get more silence with a SLK 3000B, Fortron Zen and zalman reserator. Or you can pick a watercooled psu, but i don`t have one in mind now.

LoL solid-state storage...I hope you have money to burn ;)

1. Antec P180. It's built for silence.
2. Nexus 120mm low-speed fans.
3. Zalman Fanmate or Antec Aerogate fan controller.
4. Seagate/Samsung hard drive
5. Zalman CNPS7700-Cu HSF or XP-120 + Panaflo Ultra-Low Speed 120mm
6. Passive heatsink for NB.
7. Passively cooled GFX card.

:)

best quiet stock case is the lian li pc-6070 plus. sound insulated foam on all the side and top panels and rubberized doors, can't be beat
120mm in front w/ 80 in back.

I think the P180 can beat it...all low-speed 120mm fans, dampening panels, design cues from SilentPCReview...:p

Get a case that will handle two 120 mm x 38 mm medium speed Panaflo fans. Control the fans with two Zalman Fanmate 2. The Antec SLK3000B would fit this bill.

another vote for p180. dead silent. nothing beats their 3 layer side panel and rubber mounting harddrive bay. my raptor never been more quiet, along with my 4 other hd.

i thought my old case was quiet with quiet fans. move the same quiet component into the p180 and there you have it.

I actually changed now and it is between the slk3800b and the sonataII. I can get the sonata II for 108 and the slk3800b for 80. The 3800 has a little smaller psu but not much. It has more size so easier to cool and one more 5.25 bay.

P180 is a good choice if you don't mind the tall size and heavy weight. Its HDD mounting device is excellent in reducing HDD noise, but the sound deadening panels are over-rated IMO because noise leaks out from openings in the front/back/rear. You'll still need fairly quiet components to make it quiet.
