What is it and where is it located on a dfi ultra-d mobo? its running a little warm for me at 48c acording to smartguardian and everest.

lol no i don't think it was. You probably are right VRMs need a regulation circuit, so i'd say howard's right. a voltage regulation module integrated circuit? is that what it means? =p There isn't really a chance to cool down mofsets or things related to the VRMs. The thing is... they are designed to dissipate heat into the bottom of the board. I don't see how you could cool these down, since passing air under the mobo is so difficult. Try just reducing recirculation areas in the case. Hopefully it'll work out. Anyways, there's really no need to do anything, since you're not getting crashes or anything. You're just beating a dead cat right now unless it's giving you problems.

well thanks i was more curious as to what they are maybe ill throw some gpu ramsinks on them see if that helps. i tend to get impluse ideas sometimes they are great sometime just for fun.
