Or, if you want to be Romantic about it, the purpose of life is happiness.

Exactly.

Biggest piece of sh!t philosophy I've ever heard.

Life is about the up's and down's, the struggles, rejoices, and great and sad memories. Life is looking at the dash on your tombstone between your birthdate and death and remembering the times whether they be good or bad. Life is not just about happiness and anyone who tells you that is missing a lot of life.

Well so far everything ive done in my life seems to be motivated by personal gain. Even when i do stuff like volenteer or help others, i do it because it makes ME feel good at the same time. So what is the purpose of life, it can't all be to get closer to god, nobody can be that purly dedicated!?!?
Ill make this easy for you...

YOU ARE HOPELESSLY BRAINWASHED AND CAUGHT UP IN WESTERN "CIVILIZATION" CAPITALISM!
GETTING AHEAD IS NOT THE MEANING OF LIFE!
BEING HAPPY IS!

Simple enough?

Scientifically speaking, the purpose of life is to procreate.

Philosophically speaking, many people view the purpose of life as attaining total happiness. But what is total happiness? I believe total happiness is the absence of wants and the fulfilment of needs.

Do you think you'll reach a point in your life where you will have everything you want and satisfied all your needs?

I don't think it's possible to reach such a state permanently. However, there have been many times in my life when I have briefly met total happiness. Such a state is usually fleeting, but such is human existence.
