For the life of me I can't figure it out...I never have a good place to put my other arm. No matter where it goes, it ends up falling asleep. Or it goes stiff and starts hurting after about 10 minutes. Its like the way the guy describes it in Mallrats. Has anyone mastered the fine art of spooning?

which arm? the one under her neck, or the one over her body.

I always thought spooning was both arms around her, one under, one over.

Hug & roll! Spooning is no way to sleep!

I usually spoon (arm under neck method) till my gf falls asleep, then hug & roll. :)

i agree its quite uncomfortable. However unles you have a hole in your matress shaped like bent arm you cant do much about it i dont think.+

A hand fool of hooter usually takes my mind off the falling asleep arm

One method: With both of you sitting up, put both arms around her. Lay down. If positioned correctly your arm should end up under her body in the arch created below her arm.

I hold my wife with my left arm (the one on top) and stick my right arm under/around her pillow to hold her right hand. Works for us. :D

My arm is under her neck, her head is pretty much on my shoulder. It helps that she's fairly petite and light.

Yes what you do is use cushions or pillows and pile them under the crook of your arm until they take all of the weight off it. Voila, pain-free spooning for hours! (OK a few minutes then, LOL);)

i put my arm above my head, but i find it frequently getting dislocated, which ironically, is a metaphor for my whole relationship.

:p

right side, left arm over body, right arm propped up on pillow behind my head. so yeah, i guess i am kinda like Brody, tried shoving the arm behind like he also suggested, doesnt work too well

I always put mine out from under her because it's uncomfortable for her with it under her body or head. It will eventually fall asleep and I'll have to move. She understands.

Lay on my side facing away from partner... one of my partner's arms is wrapped around my waist, holding me or holding my hand/interlaced fingers... the other arm either curves under my neck to hold me that way, goes under the curve of my waist, or just props up our pillow/the head.

I love spooning... the closeness is so comforting. Best way to fall asleep, EVAR.

Well the arm under the neck method would work I suppose (never tried it). The way it usually ends up for me is that my arm that goes under her body is sort of below her arm up against her side kind of what amnesiac suggested. I'm not really sure though, I guess I don't pay close enough attention. I must remember to take notes next time. I just sort of do what's comfortable. It helps that I have pretty muscular arms and I don't spoon with Russian weight lifters though :D

Haven't fallen asleep whlie in contact other then perhaps a hand with each other. I'm just a person that needs my space when I sleep and she understands. We hug, then roll away when ready to actually sleep. If we're hugging or anything like that while sleeping, it'll be me on my back and her head on my shoulder, chest.

When we spoon, I'd be a little lower to where my nose would be about the back of her neck so that when I bring my legs up into sort of a fetal position, it would give my entire body from neck to knee, contact with her skin. I found the most comfortable position to be directly under your pillow to support your head, as you would do as if you're sleeping alone with no pillow.

I was just reading this thread again and started thinking of that scene from "Stealing Harvard". :D

Anyone see that movie? It didn't get much attention but I thought it was pretty funny.
