ok here is the deal I just got done buying all the stuff I need to build a 1gig puter has taken almost a year now but finnaly I did it and when I put it all together I get no power at the P/S so I tryed another board in it and every thing works fine so if you have a new puter and you get no power to the fan in the P/S where is a good place to start looking for what is wrong here is what I have

an aptron MoBo
duron 800 that I wanna O/C
256 meg PC133 compaq mem
a 16gig 7200 rpm harddrive
and a geforce 2MX
all was bought new and it is so far a DOA and I have no idea what to do..
I had and have no keyboard pluged into it would that make it not boot????

Some motherboards have a led indicating that power is being supplied to it.
you might want to check that out.
Check that everything's connect right, adn that the processor is well put in.

It will POST without a keyboard, but it wont load the OS.
During the boot, it will detect a KEYBOARD ERROR. Or something like that.
Do what DumbGuy said. Check everything.
I dont know your mobo, is it jumper or jumperless motherboard?
If it uses jumpers, check the jumpers.

Good luck!

Can anything else get power? Maybe bad fan. If not, check power button's plug, look for bad connections, reseat everything after that.. RMA board if you can't get a different PS to try after that (just in case).

Check the mobo manual and make sure you follow it to the "T". There are other mobo which will not power up unless the CPU fan is connected to the right connector. Double check the PBT (power button) connector on the mobo. If it still does not work, check the back of the PBT connector pins on the mobo to make sure their is not a bad copper trace, either way you will have to RMA the mobo.😎

Another one I've heard of working: Short the "PBT" connecter with a screw driver or paper clip to see if the button is bad (it happens). Also, you can use a paper clip to manually send the power on command to the PS. Do a search, but I think you short green and black.
