Yeah, it is still Crysis, although Metro 2033 looks pretty good for a game based almost entirely underground.

It's definitely Crysis. Even though the default game might not look that good, some user made maps show really amazing detail that was similar to Crytek's own tech demos. So the default game was toned down, even though it still looks pretty good.

I will direct your attention to MadMaximus83, whose work speaks for itself.
good fucking god, that scene looks like oblivion on crack. this is basically nerd porn man! :awe: when does the fantasy world ship? XD

ed: btw crysis 3 is gonna look even better from the looks of it, and it's being designed to run on a console (most probably at only 1280x720 LOL), so chances are its gonna be better optimized. game just got pushed back, crytek being perfectionist as always lol

Wow, that is awesome work. Performance is as expected though: 13 - 26 FPS with a Q600 and a 4870, although the author claims it can be better since he didn't really focus on optimizations (although I'm not sure what he can optimize without sacrificing the absolute awesomeness of his work)

Work like that makes me wish I had an ounce of artistic talent in my body

hey, I really like that a lot. How do you go about downloading the map? Sorry for my ignorance, but I really don't see how :(

The author wrote he won't be publishing the map.

And it looks absolutely amazing ! Just the lightning is a bit off, but that's just CryENGINE2. CryENGINE3 has been mostly enhanced with the lightning, so I can't wait to see what people will build in it! And seriously, nothing comes even remotely close to CryENGINE2 IMO.

I'm going to agree that Just Cause 2, despite being a couple years newer than Crysis, comes VERY CLOSE to looking as good as Crysis. In some aspects I think it's actually prettier, but there are other places where it still falls short (uses cheap 2D tree sprites).

The biggest difference is that Just Cause 2 runs much better.

Things will get very interesting in 2011 when Crysis 2 (CRYEngine 3) goes head to head with Rage (IDTech 5) although it appears different markets are being targeted for the 2 engines.

I really loved Mirrors Edge colors, living in a City with such looks would be awesome, so pure to be truth with no trees around, a fantasy. I love Just Cause 2 glaring effects, everything looked so warm, like a paradise. The Dunia engine also looks very good, the vegetation comes very close to the one used on Crysis, even looks more natural, the colors are more bland though.

Metro 2033 is definitely the best indoor looking game I've ever played, but Crysis as a whole is more visually stunning, especially some user made maps.
