?

are Sandisc flash based players like sansa e250 ok?

I want something that works with linux, i.e., where I can just drag & drop music files to the player. I don't care about video.

Bought a Sansa E270 over XMAS. Amazing. Drag and drop music files, nice size. Removable/replaceable battery only $20. Expandable memory up to 2GB with SDmicro.

Great interface good quality.

Bought mine on Amazon for $99 for the 6GB model.

Look into Cowon/iAudio, they make some of the best flash players.

Edit: What other features are you looking for?
FM Radio?
Ogg?
User-replaceable battery?
How stuck are you on flash, would you accept a micro hard drive?

If don't want anything complicated, creative's V100 looks nice. You don't even need a usb adapter, it seperates into a flash drive. The 2gb version is about $50-70 on sale.

Check out the ones from Creative. Those are actually better than the iPod.

Buy extra memory for the MicroSD slot and quit whining. :p

I bought the 2 GB version for my wife. I figured that 2GB worth of music is plenty since we can upgrade later when memory cards get cheaper.

I just bought a Creative Zen Nano Plus last night, my old yepp finally bit the dust..
I had a chance to use it last night and I have to say the sound quality is pretty damn good and controls and the menu is fairly easy to pick up.
paid $69 at Circuit city.
