The only POV benchmark that I've ever heard of is "Persistance of Vision" which is a freeware ray-tracing program. The benchmark calculates the amount of time that it takes to render a certain complete scene at a certain resolution.
This may not be what you are talking about though, because:
a. that benchmark was typically in seconds (ie. 240s) - although it would be easy to convert this to a point system.
b. I can't see that it would run that much better on a PS2 - it would require a recompile and then a lot of tweaking for the PS2 architecture.
But maybe they are the same...
