Looks like you need to get your "sh*t" straight ;)

Christ dude, and you call me a ricer. Atleast I know how to read beyond the "VTEC" labels.

iVTEC alone is nothing more than cam phasing, toyotas have had that technology for almost a decade now. So yes, it's nothing new.

All i gotta say for now is, after skimming through this thread, you're one to talk smack about hondas having spent 7k in repairs on a mitsubishi.

Nutbucket has spent less on mods in his accord than you have on repairs. :D

Mods and initial purchase, I'd wager. :D

Here's a better question.. when manual trannys are so much fun, faster, more fuel economic..

why buy an automatic in the first place? :)

oh ok. your car doesn't wait until redline to shift? weird
I don't think I've ever seen an automatic go to redline before shifting... My Acura TL S doesn't, my SVT Lighting doesn't, and my Volvo 960 didn't.... Now, I'm not totally flooring it, but I'm getting down there.

A friend's VW Jetta automatic does. I actually thought that it was pretty cool for an automatic to get aggressive like that. A MB C240 and C320 I drove did not hit redline when floored and I thought it sucked that they didn't offer a manual in the C320 those days.

No, the car was another 2k ;) What can I say? I bought a lemon! There's not a mechanical part on that car that hasn't been replaced though, I'll tell ya that right now! All my car needs is a new throttle body and new lifters and she'll be golden :D
Oh, and calling someone a ricer is hardly flaming, especially when they're a ricer!

I meant that [ NutBucket (Car + Mods + Repairs) < $7000 < Flyermax2k3 (Repairs) ] ;)

And what exactly makes NutBucket a ricer? Gee, would it be the huge decals covering every surf- no ... the giant wi- ... fartc- ... Hmm, the 2.2L H-series under the hood?

I love my auto :) Full boost whenever I'm @ WOT is a great thing :D Never lift to shift baby! Besides that, the fastest vehicles in the world are automatics. I'd hate to have to shift through 6 or 7 gears going down the track in less than 5 seconds
rolleye.gif

There is a difference between the slushbox automatics that 99% of the world has and the hydraulically activated clutch automatics that are in the fastest cars in the world. Currently a BMW M3 is the cheapest way to get one (if they even sell those in the US yet).

eh, I'm well aware of that.... I never implied that the average Auto tranny is anywhere near as good as their drag cousins. Still, the fact remains: boost + Auto = :D

BTW, I already know what that thread is without even clicking on the link. There's a pretty big difference between an econobox Accord and a freaking Lancer Evo, don't ya think? Only a ricer would compare those two cars.

Edit: Lancer Evo/G35, whatever ;) The fact still remains: an early 90's Accord is NOT a sports car! Get it through your thick skull!

LOL! Please elaborate, oh king of the ricers! Enlighten me! Explain to me how I am a hypocrite, as your statements imply. Show me one post on these forums or any others that I have made which even implies that I have modded my car. You can't, because no such post exists.
The difference between my car and what's his nuts' car is that mine is an actual sports car whereas his is an econobox. Turbo + AWD is far more of a sports car than N/A FWD will EVER be. I rest my case.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? The point of linking to C&D's $35K Sports Sedan shootout is that there is not only a huge market for, but general appreciation of, powerful sedans.

Let me ask you this then. You do realize that Lancer EVO is basically the same as a Mirage/regular Lancer underneath and that a WRX is the same as an Impreza. Now, does that mean a Mirage and/or an Impreza aren't econoboxes? And what about a Neon SRT? Does its existance mean a plain jane rental Neon isn't an econobox? I think I rest my case.

Your defense of the OP's car and his argument absolutely imply that his Accord is a sports car. Oh, and that post where you listed all his "mods" certainly doesn't work in your favor either ;) I never said 4 door cars can't be sports cars, just that an early 90's Accord isn't.

Honda Ricer - spends thousands putting performance engine in his econobox and drives for years.
DSM Ricer - spends thousands keeping his performance engine running until he gives it up and buys something better.

My "Extensive List of Mods" = "H22 engine". He doesn't have decals, wing, fartcannon, altezzas, etc. Try reading, it's fun and educational. ;)

Why don't you define exactly what constitutes a "sports car", Oh Great God of All Things Automotive? Shouldn't you be writing your own magazine or something with all this vast knowledge? How about "DSM Racer" or "Wheater Monthly"? ;)

ROFLMFAO! You guys crack me up :)
Just because two cars are built on the same platform doesn't mean they're the same car ;) You're making some pretty big leaps of logic there... You keep comparing real cars to crappy econoboxes just to make your precious Accord look like a sports car. Get over it man. An early 90's Accord is NOT a sports car!!!! You can make one fast, no doubt about it, but it's still an econobox no matter how you look at it.
The Lancer and Lancer Evo are two completely different cars (as are the rest of the cars you mentioned). In fact, every sports car you mentioned there is built from the ground-up to be a sports car, but just happens to be built on an econobox platform. Yours, on the other hand, is not.
I rest *MY* case ;)

Sorry, they're still basically the same cars. They have upgraded suspensions and drivetrains; exactly what I've got. I fail to see what makes them so different from their econobox bretheren....

EDIT: I should add that a friend of mine was hired to convert a Mirage into a Lancer. They aren't all that different. Most of it bolts right together (ignoring the conversion to RHD).
