Out of curiosity... Red Dawn's thread was moved/deleted. Why?

People are encouraged to post in the Moderator Discussions forum, which neither has a link on the left, nor are threads visible to anyone but the moderators and the original member posting the thread.

This is not a system designed to promote openness and trust. One would almost think that it was designed to promote abuse and mistrust. Almost.

So why does this forum even still exist?

Your last question was answered below. I'll answer your first question just so there are no more threads another asking the same thing.

Red's thread was moved because it wasn't a PFI question. He was questioning a moderator action.

You want to personally question a moderator's action. Ask about it in the moderator discussion subforum or by PM, not PFI.

This forum exists for questions about problems with your personal account or general questions you have about the forums.

How can I make a sig?
Why are there no PMs in my sent folder?
Where are the Forum Rules?
How do I get my username changed?
How can I edit my thread title?
Can I post attachments?
Where's the Moderator Disussions forum?

So when there is an issue, question, or concern that interests many members, it gets hidden in mod discussions.

It is irrelevant if many others see your posts or not. There will be no revolution, no uprising, no changing of policies. You have no power, except the power of reason. And you don't need others to help you with that.

You are absolutely correct. It's not my forum, so as a member of the community I have no say in how it's run.

If, for a hypothetical example, I'm unhappy with the way a certain forum is being moderated, there is nothing I can do about it if the only discussion allowed is on the Moderator Discussions forum, where it's just me and a hypothetical moderator who points to the rules and says something hypothetically like "if you can't follow these, we'll make sure you can't post". Apparently, I have only one hypothetical choice to make.

There will be no hypothetical discussion of how to make this place a better community.

You guys must be kidding. Tons of changes have been made due to discussions and suggestions by members. For example, knowing who the mods are. However, just because something is suggested doesn't mean it will be implemented. 99% of the suggestions have already been suggested, run up the flag pole and shot down, so there is little reason to have another discussion when the answer is already known.

The crap that gets moved to mod discussions is 90% whambulance junk. Like 'wah, this other member hurt my feelings' or 'wah, why was my thread on pooping locked' or 'wah, <insert mod here> has it out for me they need to be removed as a mod'. None of those need to be public, as none have any relevance to the members as a whole.

the answer is there is no point in this forum. back in the lets everyone get together and hold hands era it was created so everything would be done in full light and able to be discussed. you can see the current philosophy.

Wasn't the thread referenced by the OP about transparency in forum moderation?
