Does having a high participation level make you download faster or get more search results? What is the point of highing a high level?

Of course, it's all pointless with countless people sitting at 1000 participation ....... :p

Not really, that means those people actually share something and more is downloaded from them than they download. Not everyone can have more downloaded from them than they download themselves, so there will always be people with under 1k, who therefor get slower downloads. It may actually encourage the .01% who know what the participation level means to share something.

There's several participation hacks for Kazaa... that's why there's people running around with unusually high levels...

I have tried those hacks but when I upload stuff my download speed decreases significantly. So basically it defeats the purpose.

I've earned a legit participation level of hrm its 247 this moment (Guru) since I got to reading up on the participation levels and what they do.. I have noticed that most files I try to get I seem to get faster than I did before when my level was 0..

Well that's usually the case for most people... when my bro has people uploading from him... our whole home network crawls... :( ...i think we need a better router or we need to upgrade our service. :)

Yes, there is a KazaaLite for version 2.0. It's not really worth upgrading, though, because there aren't very many few features that are all that useful.

Now, if they wanted to add a GOOD feature to Kazaa, they would give us a option to block users who aren't sharing any files. I'm sick of all these damn freeloaders who are sucking up my bandwidth, and slowing down my downloads.

I agree that an anti leech feature is the best thing they could add. Until then there is KaZaA Kontrol, it blocks leaches, but only works on versions up to 1.72. I've never used it, and it looks like they might have started charging for it.

Okay, one question. On the Kazaa Lite download page, it says "Cheats won't work anymore in version 2.0.2" Are they talking about the cheat they link to that says it works for "version 2 only", the one that downloads your own files to raise your participation level? So if I want to use that I need to download Version 2.0.0?

Hmm, my participation level is at Supreme Being (1000), and I'm downloading a file at a rocking 0.37kB/s, wonder what it would be with a participation level of 0!
