What is the point of blister packs?

the blister packs that arent actually seared--the ones that are stapled at 1 point and flippable are okay...but whats the deal with the normal blister packs? are they cheaper than other forms of packaging?

THey are probably easier to seal.....the edges are just melted together...easier to make a machine do it
