What is the Pentium 1 socket #

For P4 its 478, well what is the P1 266 socket #? Im just very curious.

P1 was socket7 (321 pins), but only went to 233MHz.
P2 was 233-450MHz using slot1.

Wasn't that P2? It was socket 7 for the original pentiums (and there was super-7 as well).

Didn't the socket end with the 233mhz chip though? Then 266 start the slot1? I would google it but I'm not that interested

IIRC Pentium MMX socket7 ended at 233, but there may have been a Pentium 266 laptop part (though not a socket7). The PII started with Slot 1 at 233. And in between was a socket8 Pentium Pro at 233 max which ran 16bit anything poorly as I found out after spending $3000 on a Quantex with the kickass Matrox Mystique 4 meg video card.

Intel's Socket 5 was used for the original Pentium 60 and Pentium 66.

Intel's Socket 7 went from the Pentium 75MHz to Pentium MMX 233MHz.

Socket 8 for the Pentium Pro exists for the PPro 150, 166, 180 and 200. No further.

Slot 1 for the Pentium II starts at 233MHz.

I had a socket 7 Cyrix 166+ ....those were the days...I even had the 256Kb extended cache module!

It's a trick question - I don't think there was a 266 P1!

I know that Intel never produced a socket7 P1 266MHz desktop cpu.

My bad on the PPro 233, it was only a 200/256k that I had overclocked.

Pentium 266 (though not socket7) showed up in embedded baords and very few laptops. Read more here on Tillamook if you're interested.
