I'll be building a computer for another nephew but I'd like to wait for the Kyro2. Until it becomes available I'd like to use this old video card my nephew has. It seems to need to piggyback another video card. Can someone tell me what this card is about?

OLD card...this was back when they had 3D "accelerators", which meant the card was an add-on to your existing video card...windows would switch to use the V2 when it comes to games or whatever 3D the card supported (Glide baby)

Also with the Voodoo 2's which is a really good card..you can double them up, ie. 2 voodoo 2's s.l.i'ed (scan line interleave) together they whip a voodoo 3!:Q

Actually, 2 V2's connected SLI is just a little "slower" than a V3.
The V2 cards have no onboard 2d, and require another card for the 2d.
They came in 8meg and 12meg versions.
Some newer games will not work with the V2, as it's 16bit only, (like Links 2001).
The company that made the card, 3dfx, is no more.....
A year ago, you could have bought the 3dfx V2 1000, which was a 12 meg version, for $20 at Staples, after rebate. (I bought 2).

Today, you are better off with a used $40 V3, as it's more powerful than 2 V2's, and 1 card will do what would take 3 cards to do if you used the V2.

not to mention when they don't switch back to primary video card to play video....its beyond ugly. the 3d rendering itself its pretty ugly. say you have an 12mb v2, i think u only have 4mb texture mem:p 4mb frame buffer, and the texture mem is duplicated for the two chips. i dunno why your waiting for the dead end kyro2:p
