I think that I could use it in a video project. What is that orchestral song in the trailer towards the end whent he japanese attack Pearl Harbor? If anyone knows I'd appreciate it; although there is a chance that it is on the soundtrack that isn't available yet, I'm hoping it's a song already recorded that I could use in a class project.

Well, there are three trailers that I know of: Teaser, Trailer #1, and Trailer #2. I am not sure what they use in Trailer #2, because I have never seen it, but I know it exists. The music used in the Teaser and Trailer #1 is from Hans Zimmer's "The Thin Red Line" soundtrack, specifically the tracks "Silence" and "Journey to the Line."

I just got them off Napster, it's exactly what I'm looking for. This is great. How in the world did you know it?

I have a good memory for sound. Most trailers use music from other movies, and I can often identify those movies and the soundtrack's composer by the end of the trailer. I have also been a film-music buff my entire life, and I guess it all started with Vangelis' soundtrack for "Chariots of Fire." Soundtrack composers like Hans Zimmer, James Horner, and John Williams, just to name a few, are the "Mozarts" of our time.

I agree with you...I've played some of William's music (grossly simplified I'm sure) but, when I did play the sax, I could feel his music better than most others we played. Although I never played any of Zimmer's music (I was never a string...) this music is incredible. I'm going to find more of his pieces, this stuff can almost bring me to tears....

Any other songs you would recommend?

If you're looking for great Hans Zimmer stuff, check out the instrumental tracks on The Lion King CD... that stuff is totally amazing! I get chills every time I listen...

Don't forget Jerry Goldsmith, a close second to Williams.

Danny Elfman is surprisingly good too. Maurice Jarre relies too much on heavy synth pads (like in Witness). Boring.
