What is the normal temperature for Tbird 1.33Ghz?

I have the TB 1.33 Ghz and Volcano II by Thermaltake, but the temperature of the processor goes up to 62 degrees, is it normal and what I can do to reduce the temperature?

That's a bit higher than I'd be comfortable with, espeically if it hits that not under load. Try the easy stuff first - run it with the case off, etc. Also, what's your ambient like?

Well, with the case open it stops somwhere at 54-52 degrees, and I cant figure out why it's so hot...
Tell me what is the safe range of temperatures for this processor?

what motherboard are you using and what is the case temp. socket a boards are very inconsistant in cpu temp readings so we really need to know what board you are using to determine what the acceptable temp range is. Look to your case cooling as well good case cooling will help temp problems immensly. Even the best HSF can do a poor job if the air temp in the case is too high. An MSI K7T turbo for instance would not concern me if the full load temps were hitting 60c occasionally since it is known for reporting cpu temps typically 4-6c higher than most other boards. The 1.33 tbirds can run reliably at higher temps but you should shoot for down around the 50c area under full load at that clock speed. Another thing you can look at is the cpu core voltage. Many socket a boards actually run a much higher core voltage than it is set for. For example on my Turbo board if i set the core voltage to default or 1.75 which is the default core setting for my 1.33 it will actually be running at 1.88 so after some experimentation i discovered that the 1.625 setting actually delivered 1.75 core volts. Setting it to 1.625 dropped my cpu temps about 5c.

I'm using ASUS A7M266 motherboard and core voltage is set to 1.75, but software reports it as 1.776. Is there any issue of not exact temperature reding by this board? And what is the safe range of temperatures? I just want to know - not to get my processor damaged.

what is your motherboard temp with the case closed the case open temps are about right for a 1.33 using a volcano 2. try and get your case temps down to 30 c or lower. The voltages look good although i found that i could get my 1.33 to run ok at 1.675 volts. If you care staying 60 and under I don't think there is any impending danger of damage from overheat. Amd specs the 1.33 to withstand surface die temps up to 95c before failure.

I have the same board (A7M266) and the same Proc and was getting what I thought were higher than normal temps. It normally ran in the upeer 50's and then under load it would hit ~60 or 61.

I bought another proc and it runs at the same temp. I thought maybe that first device came from a 'hot' lot, but this other one from a totally different source runs at almost the same temp.

I am cooling it with a Taisol CGK742092B and some Artic Silver II. I have several case fans and having the case open makes maybe a 1 degree temp difference.

I am using the supplied Asus software, I have even confirmed my temp readings using hmonitor. It reads about the same, within a degree or so.

Yeap, this is close to what I get, so I guess everything is ok. Just tell me if there are stability issues, because I have this PC for a week o so and so far it's ok...

I just built a 1.33 Tbird last night on a Asus A7V133 board last night. When I first started it up it was reading 61c in the bios, after the install of Windows I checked it with MBM & it was idiling in the upper 50's & loaded temp was in the low 60's.

Room temp warm 85F, Golden Gate 27cfm fan for coling,Antec SX830case open with room fan blowing on board

It was running ok but I could'nt push it very far because it was so hot.I finally pulled the Golden gate off & replaced it with my Alpha PeP66 & my temps dropped by about 9C.The Golden gate had tested better on my P3 1gig so I used it on the Tbird.

I sure would like to give the GG another try but the clip was a bear & it was blocking 1 ram slot. Both H/S are quite warm to the touch.

Even with the Alpha the temps seems warm to me 51 idle & 58 load.I've been digging through all the threads on high temps for Tbirds & I'm seeing"Asus" boards on most threads.I've been told that the Asus boards read higher temps than most (possibly more accurate than most Mb's)I tend to agree.
