I picked up a 15 lb (48 in x 48 in) - .065 thickness piece of aluminum from a local supplier at $3.25/lb (similar to this). Is this a decent price or what (not that I hd mucgh of a choice of suppliers or anything). Oh well, another 50 bucks down the drain.

I don't know what it costs, but if you got it from a supplier, it was probably the going rate. Most of the time they don't have too much markup over what they get it for. At most you might have saved or lost $10....

I recently bought 24" x 12" x 0.375" aluminum for $80. That is about double the rate you paid - however I think I got the highest grade aluminum and it is a less common thickness.

I hate suppliers that put steel out in the open....took me 20 minutes to sand down 1 of 4 pieces I purchased...
