What is the name of this movie??

I saw it as a kid but I don't really remember much of it. I just remember it had to do with Central Park in New York, and there were a couple of kids, and they somehow signed their way into a circus (using pricked blood from their fingers to sign the contract, I remember that scene clearly). And the circus has a bunch of big crazy animals. The general mood of the movie is pretty dark IIRC.
