Hello there!!
I need your help...I have (or I should say, my girlfriend has) an old Hitachi computer (1996), I am not sure but maybe its only available in Japan. The model name is Flora PX-VK3T (originaly with a pentium 120 MHz, 1Gb HD, 16Mb RAM)...its like a one bloc computer (the screen and the case make one), and I would like to upgrade it (change the motherboard and CPU) cause I dont have enough money to buy a new one, and also cause the screen and many parts dont need to be updated...(I have put already 89 Mb of RAM and a 4.3Gb as a HD without any problems)...

But my problem is that I dont have any idea of what kind of motherboard would fit inside that stuff!!!
It doesnt look like AT or ATX form kind...there is a video output on the right then from right to left you find the LTP, COM2 COM1, PS2 and Keyboard, and an other output, maybe "infra-red", and you have to plug a long card in the middle of the motherboard on which you plug the others PCI cards (modem card, and MPEG1 card).

I tryied to contact Hitachi Support service to asked info and spec notes about this computer, but no one seems to speak english (only Japanese), and I still dont have any answer to my question...

If someone could help me...I feel like sending a message in a bottle, and I dont expect too much ...

Best Regards to all of you...

Given your description, the motherboard sounds like a proprietary type specially designed to fit that case. You would not be able to find a modern, normal off-the-shelf motherboard that would fit into such a case.

89MB of RAM??

Sounds like the same 'custom' motherboard that the old Compaq's used. You can't replace it except with another identical board. I don't know about Hitachi, but I know from experience that Compaq is almost HOSTILE towards people who want to upgrade their computers... If the monitor has an external input, then you may be able to get away with re-using the screen, but you're going to have to get a new case if you want to upgrade to a new motherboard.
