I'm currently at about $5,400. I'm 22 and still in college. This amount is NOT towards school but actual consumer spending. It's not bad cause I pay no interest. I would be in this situation if I didn't visit FW Hot Deals or Anandtech Hot Deals like 7-8 times a day....then again sometimes there ARE deals that can't be missed. I've gotten kick ass items for super low costs.

Like my Minolta PagePro 1350W laser printer for $30 after rebate. Now THAT was a deal.

ouch school lones for engineer school :p??

Nah, see corrected post (mortgage)

I only borrowed 15k to go to school on. Pell grants/state grants took care of the rest along with a little scholarship money.

Oh, and that was in 1999. I'll be debt free mid 2006! :D

0.00....unless you consider a mortgage on a house. I have never carried a balance on a credit card, made payments on a car, or bought something I could not pay cash for....even my education....and I am 42 years old.

Just because someone doesn't want to pay finance charges/interest vs investing doesn't mean that he's not a smart man. Who says that he doesn't do both? (I'm assuming you're talking about investing the money and financing vs paying with cash? If not, disregard my comments).
