first.last@email.com

For the few instances of nicknames just use aliases...doesn't sound like you have a huge number of people to work with so shouldn't be very often you have to worry about it.

First.mi.last

Otherwise you're going to run into name collisions more quickly.

first.last = firstlast for gmail

You can send an email to first.last@gmail.com and it will automatically go to firstlast.gmail.com.

I prefer the look of first.last.

I hate flast.

does it matter really as far as combination of first & last? I mean with public emails like gmail, it's probably taken already if your name is remotely uncommon. I had to add my 2 digit year of bith to the end of mine just to get it to work.

In business it matters quite a bit. Your email address and business card is often the main publicly outward information about you. If your IT guy picked some stupid scheme what does it say about the rest of the company?

I have not returned sales calls purely because their IT guy picked a stupid scheme and the owner didn't stop it before printing cards etc.

first.last or f.last is good.

Also don't use gmail or hotmail etc, use your own domain. I always lol when I see a business vehicle with a @hotmail.com email on it. Like seriously?

The best one I saw once was a computer repair business. The email address was something to the extent of comp_guy69@hotmail.com. I don't think that business lasted very long. He's lucky if he even paid off that truck.
