What is the most powerful gas/diesel engine that weighs 150 lbs or less?

Can anybody tell me which gas or diesel engine under 150 lbs produces the most torque and HP, and also spins up to at least 3000 RPM at the crank? I don't anything like a motorcycle engine that needs to rev super high to make power. This engine needs to work between 2000-3000 RPM. I'm not talking some prototype engine either, I'm interested in something that I could purchase fairly easily...like off the web. :)

Wankle/rotory is supposed to have the highest hp and torque to weight ratio. Don't know about availability. ;)

Something a little less expensive is the Kohler line of engines. Lightweight, dependable.

Thanks for the info, guys. Looks the Kohler engines are a good choice...under 100 LBS and capable of 26 HP and decent torque around 3K RPM. At $1200 they are a little pricey, though. I couldn't find any small diesel engines...I thought they'd have more torque as well as being a bit better for my application.

You aren't going to find any "cheap" diesels unless you find a good used one out of a small generator. Look for small Generac generators. Diesels will have the best torque at slow RPM, thus they will usually have a low BHP rating.

An old 1100cc engine out of a VW might work, definitely more power than the Kohler engines. I don't know how heavy one is.

Well, I am interested in making a battle bot that I can enter in BattleBots or maybe Robot Wars. There aren't many gas powered bots, so I'd like to be one of the few. :) There also aren't enough destructive robots...most of them are lame wedges that don't do anything. In fact, a lot of the designs are pretty dull and uninspired. The cool designs often lack functionality. With the power of a gas engine I intend to set up a powerful hydraulic system...exact details are confidential, but I'll be building the bot around the engine and hydraulic components. I'd like to get in on robot battle competitions before it takes off like the WWF. :D

Anybody know how much the 600cc engine out of a Suzuki Katana weights? The bike's total weight is about 430 lbs...is most of that weight the motor? The fairing, wheels, frame, tank and all the other stuff probably weigh around 100-150 tops...damn...I think 150 lbs is the max for an engine...plus the 11K redline is a little high for this project.
