The "most frightening movie" thread here inspired me to start this one.

What is the most disturbing movie you have ever seen?

The first two "Faces of Death" were pretty bad, but I saw them tripping, so that doesn't really count.

I'm probably going to have to vote for Requiem for a Dream. Anyone else? :)

i'd say requiem wasn't distrubing as much as shock. Probably Happiness or welcome to the dollhouse, are pretty disturbing. Hmmm i'm trying to think what else

Event Horizon and Strange Days come to mind. I know there are a couple others I found really disturbing but I seem to have blocked them out of my mind...

speaking of "Faces of Death"----I got an e-mail with an mpeg attched "facesofdeath.mpeg"--it shows a guy getting his throat cut and is quite sickening---anybody else seen this or know if it's real? it sure as hell looks real.

Faces of death isn't even a movie, don't post that here. It's like a bunch of internet clips combined. IT's just videos of people dying, big deal, it's not distrubing like movies that just make you think "oh god this is seriously messed up".

I'd have to agree with "Requiem for a Dream" and "Kids."

They were both too real to not be disturbing. Fantasy/sci-fi doesn't bother me too much, but frightening and intense reality can be overwhelming.

I thought Seven was pretty disturbing. So were 8mm and Event Horizon. It sounds like I need to see Requiem for a Dream...

Se7ven.

I loved 8mm, though the two people I've showed it to were disturbed by it.

My girlfriend just reminded me that I was pretty disturbed by The Talented Mr. Ripley.

In a different way from the other movies I listed I guess I was disturbed. I think the problem was that I sympathized too much with Matt Damon's character from the beginning...

Reanimator. Now there was a disturbing movie. A headless guy holding his choped off head over a naked woman so that his head could lick her cheek and whatever. Sorry, I digressed. umm, and also Happiness. That movie was...

yeah, can't find words to describe.

Probably Seven...

it was very well done and I thought it was a great movie, but Kevin Spacey plays one of the most disturbed individuals ever put on screen. He is only in the movie for a few moments, but he totally takes over. He plays one of the most intelligent -- and very psychotic -- serial killers ever in a movie.

I have to agree with some people on Requiem for a Dream also. That was a great movie... it just slowly spirals itself down into complete misery. I thought it was pretty darn realisitic though.
