What is the maximum sustained transfer rate on the PCI bus?

As above. I'm bouncing some ideas around in my head. For my next rig, I'm contemplating getting a hardware RAID card and using it for my boot/daily use drive and putting my backup HD(s) on the onboard raid/IDE controller.

Taking into account the overhead, it's about 120-125Mbps for a 32bit/33mhz PCI bus. You can multiply that out for the 64bit and/or 66mhz bus types. I'm on a three 15k rpm U160SCSI RAID0 setup that pushes over 100Mbps sustained. 4 drives (or 3 of the current gen 15k's) will completely saturate the 32bit/33mhz bus.

Wow, nice setup! I won't have to worry about saturating the bus...'cause I'm on a TWO drive IDE setup, baby! Yeah, rock on, Mike! J/K, LOL! Good info. Thanks Apex.
