Hi there,

Could you guys tell me what the maximum hard drive size is for an FIC Slot A motherboard is which runs at ATA66? (I don't remember the model number as it's not with me right now... maybe SD-11 or something like that?) Would I be able to use an 80GB or 120GB hard drive with that board and no controller card?

Thanks! :)

A little bumpness....

I know this is a stupid question, but I need to make sure before buying a new hard drive for that... thing. :D

I have never heard of a max HD size for a controller. I doubt that you will have any problems.

Great, just wanted to make sure as I was told that my old PII 266 mobo (for my old server, which just died :( ) would not support a large hard drive.

Thanks!

That is correct on that system setup, but I think your FIC board should support minimum of 40 gig. Your old motherboard won't support it.

But I'm looking at FIC web site, you should definetly upgrade your BIOS

1. Fix AMD Thunderbird CPU (A1 sample) internal cache information return size incorrect.
2. Fix HDD size exceeds 33GB report error, when in setup menu by press "AUTO" to get the HDD size.
3. Add setup item for user to select IDE cable size.
4. Fix all Maxtor UDMA 66 HDD copy files hang up

This is for their slot A boards.

make sure this is your Board first!!!!

Make sure you upgrade to latest VIA drivers too, this will give you better performance for hardrive, AGP, etc....

newbiepcuser: I believe I have already upgraded the mobo to the latest BIOS when I used to use it in my system, but I guess I will find out when I hook it back up...

So do you guys think it will take an 80 or 120GB hard drive?

Thanks!
