What is the longest time you've ever stayed awake?

I don't know exactly. It's been awhile, but something like 2 1/2 days. Not much, compared to some people, I hear.

So, how long have you been awake before? :)

About 80 hours. Hurricane Hugo and it's aftermath kept me awake for a long time.

Holy Sh:t.

That's quite a long time...did you have Red Bull to keep you company? :D

Supposedly it's a proven fact that if you don't sleep for 10 days you die. I would have hated to have been part of that study.

Nope didnt have anything. No electricity, but tons of work to do. Had to fix our house and help our neighbors repair holes in their roof. It was pretty much non-stop work and helping out. We had a 107 foot pine tree fall from our front yard that we had to clean up and our neighbors had 7 trees fall. Now that I look back on it, I have no idea how I stayed awake all that time.

There was a study done where they didn't feed a rat and it died in 16 days. In that same study, they had another rat and they didn't let it sleep. It died in 17 days. Kinda seems like sleep is almost as important and food.

Worst I've ever gone without any sleep at all- 2 1/2 days
Some "sleep" (as in 5-10 minute max "catnaps") 4 1/2 days during Desert Storm- BTW, we were finally forced to stop for sleep when the pilots of our helicopter zonked out upon landing at a "CASH" field hospital- woke them both up and asked "which one of y'all landed"- neither one knew-thought the other guy had. Got a good 12 hrs sleep in, of all places, the examination table of the OB/GYN section (it was the only area not in use!)

Well, the longest for a while was 38hrs and 20 some minutes after taking one of ViperGTS's super-caffeine pills that we took for an all-nighter once. I simply couldn't sleep.

After that, some things were happening in my life that were quite stressful and I couldn't sleep for four days. :(

about 40 hours. One night, instead of going to bed. I got a call from a friend who wanted to play some blackjack so we went to the casino, and spend 14 straight hours playing cards. it was a WAR! I was a zombie after it was over.

Probably about 48 hours, and at the end of that time I was falling asleep while someone would talk to me. After a hour long nap, I stayed awake about 8 more hours.

Of course it is. Your body is basically recovering from the stress of every day life.

'bout a week or more (it's a long story) After a couple of nights, it doesn't even matter anymore. The hardest part of it was just finding something to watch on TV.
