What is the logic behind most of IN not using daylight savings?

The funniest things is that they change timezones, instead of getting up from their couches. I've been going to school here for three years, and it's really annoying that I get out of sync with my hometown.

Is it because the majority of the state is too stupid to adjust the blinking lights on their VCRs and the clocks in their cars? Tractors don't have clocks on them, so them farmer types don't have to worry. They use the sun to tell time anyways!

Just wondering...

I'm expecting some websites with some good explanations now folks. Don't let me down!

I don't understand why we change it in the first place, we set in forward and then backward. Why not just put it ahead 30 minutes and leave it like that all year?

I thought it was because a Time Zone line ran right through the middle of the state. It would be rather confusing to have one side of a city in one time zone, while another side of the city was in the second.

I think it was just to make it easier on businesses and commuters who would cross the time zone line multiple times a day.

I thought the same thing. Now, in this dangerous world we live in, we don't want to send our children to school in the dark, as they have a 6000 times higher chance of being kidnapped**.

But yeah...makes no sense to me either. That's why I look for some genius on here to provide me a link as to why!

It was started to save fuel during the wars. The more sunlight we have, the less fuel we need to burn to keep stuff lit.

Indy resident here:

We don't change because the farmers wanted an extra hour of sunlight and work time in the farms. Now that it doesn't quite matter, we are "creatures of habit" and therefore never switch. I don't complain, because I think switching is retarted. Oh well.

Edit: BigDee is also correct.

You're the best! Thanks for the link, VI Edit! :D

I guess I should be visiting my state government's site more frequently! :p

Anyway, I cannot believe California wants to extend it to a year-round! :| Hehehe!

I prefer not to lose one hour. I guess I always have the option to move to Arizona, not far from here. :Q :p

What really sucks is when I have to go up to LaPorte or Gary (in that area) and they do change time zones. I was almost late to an important meeting because of that crap.

As most of you already know: minendo hates Indiana.
