i am using TDK dvd-r's, but i am wondering when they will die.

i am thinking about switching to Ritek because it is cheaper, but how long will these medias last?

will i be able to put them in the dvd-rom few years from now and still have them work?

They haven't been around long enough to find out. 🙂
True, But when CD-R's came out, They were reported to be able to last 100 years with proper care. The media makers should have some sort of idea about DVD+/-R.

I bought these movie reel verbatim archival DVD-Rs which claim to have a 100 year life span.
I've also bought a disc which cost $0.50 in a spindle which lasted less than two months.

I don't believe you will be around to find out, let alone still be using THAT disc...

Even if it was only 25 years... What are the chances you cannot copy that disc or remake anything that is currently on it..
