Ive figured out all of the settings in windows media player (WMP). So far, simply having VMR checked without overlay or high quality mode has produced the most proper playback for my RLE compressed AVI animations. And all other settings except one seem to be irrelevant, and that is primary surfaces. The YUV or RGB flippings are only applied if overlay is checked, so they are irrelevant since im not using overlay. But then there is this 'use primary surfaces' option whcih i just cant seem to understand.
ive looked everywhere to try to get a simple idea of what it is and wether it would be of relevance to me, but i havent found simple concrete information on it and its relation to video playback, like an AVI animation.
I need to make sure i know if i need it or not since i need to be prepared for troubleshooting when i make the presentation that i intend on making. If it was just for me, then i would simply not care since there is no visible difference.
