What is the law in New York State for landlord doing snow removal?

Having a bit of a problem with the landlord over snow removal. Our apartment has off street parking. The landlord also has a storage area in the basement that is accessed by this driveway.
I haven't said anything about the lack of snow removal until now. There is only a couple of feet between the apartment's driveway and the house next door, so I can't shovel the snow that way. So I end up shoveling it into the middle where the landlord's workers have to go to get stuff. In the past this hasn't been a problem because the landlord had someone come and clear the snow out of the middle. Now he's being cheap and doesn't have a contract for snow removal.
So we were told we couldn't shovel the snow in the middle anymore. This means we have nowhere to shovel the snow.
Is the landlord legally responsible to clear the driveway or am I just plain screwed?

Cliff notes: Does New York State law require the landlord to remove snow from an apartment's driveway?

*not an expert....

If you put the snow on a grassy area then I doubt there's anything that can ledally be done unless there's anything stipulated in the lease. But it's up to you to remove it from Paved Area and probably any sidewalk you might have in front of the house.
