What is the latest version of Longhorn?

I don't believe there are any really public releases yet. If you are an MSDN _______ (forget the word.. subscriber?), you should have already received the latest official CD. If not, I don't think you can legally get it.

I know this. But this doesn't really matter, now does it? So what's the latest version?

I dont know where you're getting the build number 4080 from; the latest version on the MSDN site (the site you linked) is 4074 (the build that was released for WinHEC).

I'm sure they have made plenty of other builds internally, but nothing else has been released to the developer community.

At this stage in development it doesnt much matter what the builds are unless you are a developer and looking to write software that takes advantages of the new features. Longhorn is still a long ways away from something that you would want to run on your personal machines.

Yes it does matter. If you have to ask what's the latest build, then you don't need it and should not get it.

No, we don't. Why on earth would you want to see what an alpha operating system looks like? Want to be a l33t H4x0r running Longhorn?

Not cool. We do not all use illegal programs. If you want help pirating software go someplace else, these forums and the subscribers here do not condone illegal activties.

The *only* reason anyone would have to run Longhorn at this point would be if they are a developer looking to write software for it. It's actually "Pre-Alpha" (not even stable enough to be called alpha) at this point; I've got an install of it and it's not very stable or functional (a number of the new features dont even work yet). If you want to run it for development than go get yourself a developing project and an MSDN subscription.

Oh and BTW, even if you were to get your hands on a copy of it all the LH keys require activation almost immediatly. You would only be able to use it for 15 days before it locked you out.

Twista seriously go find yourself something legitimate to do with your time. Despite what all the script kiddies tell you running illegal software does not make you a l33t H4x0r!

Thanks for the response spyordie007. However, I think Twista was just making a joke, I've seen his humor before.

I've seen his humor before also and havent been very impressed. Just take a look at some of the old threads regarding running Server 2003 as a desktop OS...
